Jam The Hype Jam the Hype
Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.
– Victor Hugo
Picture this. The year was 2002. My personal CD collection has grown to over 300. Digital alternatives didn’t exist in my life at the time. My first CD purchased; Operation Stackola by Luniz in 1995. My collection featured the likes of iconic artists named Biggie, Nas, Tupac, Common, Slick Rick and all the in-betweens. Music represented therapy for me. I turned to it as static tuning out from the horrors of personal life and the world. I looked to it for life applications and how to present myself in society.
In the course of eight hours, I had given away my former lyrical inspirations to friends and co-workers in exchange for a concept foreign to many; Christian Hip-Hop.
